Change in Journalistic Discourse and Media Theory
Abstract
In this modern, international order, the power of individuals, groups and social individuals arises from the management of the process of timely identification, selection, shaping, storage and distribution ofinformation, but there are insufficient articles that have covered this topic. If we observe the outcomes of journalistic activity through the historical context and media types, we can conclude that the theoreticalconcept of journalism has significantly transformed under the impact of the Internet and social media. Instead of ideological and persuasive narratives and the imposed, mediated communication, ordinary citizens get a chance to shape and influence social relations by self-promotion of their own ideas andprograms. The “locus” of journalistic discourse gradually shifts from professional editorial offices andinstitutions to the anonymous individuals and groups, which indicates a change in standards in the global,public sphere. Media education which is based on the symbiosis of theory and practice emphasizes thenotions of motivation, discourse, mission, orientation, contextualization, education and attention management. The goal of this paper is to emphasize not only the emergence of a new communication paradigm, but also the methodological and conceptual changes of both media theory and the journalistic discourse itself.
