Social Work and Social Developement: Challenges and Opportunities in the First Decades of the 21st Century

Abstract


The paper analyzes the challenges and opportunities with which social work as a profession faces in the first decades of the 21st century. The impact of state policy on social work and social development isalso analyzed. In this regard, it was pointed out that the economic crisis, that marked the beginning ofthe 21st, century is the main “culprit” for which social work has not been sufficiently established in the sphere of achieving greater social development / well-being. Also, emphasis is put on the perspectives of social development, and on possible new directions of social work development.
